The Sweet Bay Magnolia is sometimes known as Sweet Bay, Magnolia swamp or marsh of the Bay. First was found in European gardens as far back as 1688. The settlers referred to it as the beaver tree, because their fleshy roots helped them trapping beavers.

This tree is found naturally in areas that are moist and humid as along ponds, streams and wetlands. It arise itself after a brush fire and form. It is more common in South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Alabama, but can also be found in New York, Texas, Tennessee and Arkansas

Appearance
