Hostas are suspicious characters in your garden
Many gardeners covet labeled lily shade plants. Are important for several reasons because of its accessibility, which is found in many varieties and are easy to grow. I do not think that a hosta for every application in your garden. Hostas can be covered of land, borders or specimen plants in the garden. This plant prefers shade to shade irregular, but can tolerate sunlight in the morning. The color of the leaves can vary with the magnitude of the sun such as blue-green glow in the sunlight if the increase is present. In southern areas have deeper to go with the fragrant hostas, which can stand the sunlight.
The host does not need constant attention, except for irrigation. The growth of advanced plant gradually and should reach maturity in about four years. They have never had to adjust my hostas after planting, but I know gardeners who advocate by adding time-release fertilizer once in a while but it is not really necessary. They should be watered once a week if no rain develops due to its heritage in a temperate climate. The host must have good drainage and will develop crown rot if the area is too wet.
They are not at all difficult for grow just dig a hole half again as wide and deep as the root ball. The land application of well rotted compost, humus or release fertilizer time available on the market would beneficial. If that soil drainage is slow would be better to dig the hole larger in size and mix a little coarse with their payment of choice. The hosta should be placed in the hole so the crown is at ground level. This is after applying water and water is installed on the floor.
The most interesting aspect of hostas, if well cared for, is the fact that you never have to buy another hosta. I moved to my current house thirty years ago and moved the three hostas former home and now I have more than one hundred hostas. A border along a stream, flanking both sides of the house and placement among other gardens shaded. I prefer to dividing hostas in the spring as the buds are appearing. Not only is it less difficult, but also assures me that my transplanted hostas will be a truer off spring.
I always leave the hostas covered with their own dead stems in winter and protection. This other wastes be removed in the spring. It takes time to develop hostas in the spring.
Some of the friends of my gardener has planted bulbs in a ring around your hostas to add color to arid terrain garden surrounding the hostas. A hosta is probably the best weed killer. The large leaves surrounding the soil around the weeds and prevent the growth weed very little and in some cases none. A respite from the rest of the garden.
The slimy slug is one of the scourges of the hosta. You can use a slug bait or if you have environmental concerns, you may want to provide themselves with pine needle mulch.ground-up seashells and even flour sprinkled around the base of the hosta will the trick. If you are not the kind of scruples can also choose the hostas. Beer traps work and I also used this and it will work, but I to the conclusion that it was an expensive way to kill slugs, including intestinal putrefaction beer. There are problems with deer, although I have never had this happen, I like to buy a good dog barking or a deer repellent. The mice, if any, are another pest and its not advisable to mulch around or under your hostas .. Cats and hawks are lethal weapons for this problem.
Hostas are an important factor for your garden to add color and texture. The impatiens planted randomly or fern, astibles and azaleas are in sharp contrast with hostas. Worth hostas inital investment and will undoubtedly continue giving your garden.
