Fall Planting

Fall Planting is an excellent idea

Most people do not think in the fall as a time to plant new landscaping and garden plants. For most, it is time to put business garden to sleep until spring. While it does not seem so, fall planting of trees, shrubs, perennials, bulbs, grasses and cool temperatures as fescue is an excellent idea.

The roots of plants and newly planted trees can continue to grow and establish themselves in temperatures as low as 40 degrees. And since the roots do not provide the rest of the plant with energy to grow, the more energy is focused on the root production. Come spring, because of a Root System in place, the Plants From the earth with great energy for growth High.

Soil temperature

Planting in the fall soil temperatures are still warm from summer long. The warmer soil promotes root growth.

In spring, the soil is still fresh in the winter and the roots are very slow to settle. Even if you grow plants from seeds inside and transplant outside when the weather warms, the seeds for the benefit did not fall planted crops.

When exactly is fall?

The fall season officially begins with the equinox in late September. However, the weather varies considerably from autumn part of the country to another. Basically, the best time for fall planting is about six weeks before the first frost in your area. You can have an idea of the date of first frost on average close to your area from here: http://www.almanac.com/garden/frostus.php . Just keep in mind that the roots need time to establish before winter sets in.

Fall Bloomers

Fall is not only a time to the garden to sleep and start preparing for spring. The growing season is not quite finished. You can add color and new life in the garden to die by replacing annuals with summer and fall perennials as plants Thoughts, chrysanthemums and ornamental cabbage and kale, marigolds, and others.
