Suggestions to facilitate perennials?
Looking to start a garden. As I’m not famous, I’m looking to start with perennials that are attractive and self-sustaining once you get there. Any suggestions of combinations that will attractive?
Daylilies are probably one of the easiest, and they come in such a variety of colors and combinations are endless. I have a butterfly garden with echinaea (Echinacea purpurea), flaming star (Liatris), Shasta Daisy and Bee Balm (Monarda), and they are all very hardy (I’m in zone 4) and the colors work very well together … shades of pink and purple with white Shasta daisy. And you can mix in some spring bulbs for a splash early color! If the site is shaded, hostas are super strong, and most are long flower spikes, but the beauty of hostas are in their foliage. They can be huge or with tiny Dark Green or variegated.
