My cannas and banana have been damaged by cold weather this winter exceptionally cause their leaves to brown and wither. I have since focused on plants with leaves to prevent further damage. In the meantime, do I cut the leaves that have turned brown (almost all) or leave them until it warms up?

I do not know where you are, but I am a small part of Canada, and my bananas (banana fiber Japanese) back from the ground, even if the leaves / stems are dead. Cannas are however very tender and they do not survive without me. I have to dig the first frost. Best way to know if yours is alive is to dig tubers / root and if it is yellow and fleshy, it then will go well. If everything is black or brown, then you have lost.
