How can you get rid of Bamboo Plants 6-8 m tall, growing on a taproot and seem to be resistant to weed killers?
These plants are invading the garden and we can not seem to get rid of them
I have those too and I tried to isolate the rest of the court and under control. Here are some suggestions: – When you cut them, cut them from the stem base. If you cut a stem at the base, it will not grow back. – Cut the stems again as they begin to grow. – Cut the top of one of the stems become too large. OK, now if you want rid of them, I know 2 "safer" ways to do this: – Dig up all the root balls. The roots of these things provide long runners and they spread. You need to get as many roots as possible if you remove the plants. I also learned that some people will pay $ 15 – $ 30 for root balls, so you can contact a local garden store before chopping into small pieces to see if they might need to buy. – The plants may be resistant to a herbicide, but you can still use it to kill them. Here's how: Wait until it has been dry for a couple of weeks and plants are parched for water. Get some herbicide concentrate. Cut the stems closer to the mound. Pour the herbicide directly on the stem you just cut. If you're lucky, the herbicide will be absorbed by the rod in the root ball and down the underground Root System. I saw this work to kill a huge patch of plants. You have to be careful with the weedkiller. Use enough to soak the root ball and may reapply the next day, but do not pour it directly into the soil.
