Pink Double Knockout Rose (PPAF)
The Best Keeps Getting Better!
Gardeners across the nation like the original Knockout Rose. They found it is as low maintenance as any shrub could be, but with a flowering period longer than virtually any rustic garden plant. They loved its offspring, the hybrid Double Knockout, or even more. We predict even greater success for this new family member Knockout, introduced in 2007: 'Pink Double Knockout.
'Pink Double Knockout' is a mutation of (RED) Double Knockout and is the same in all respects except flower color is hot pink bubble gum. You get the same combination of double flowers, low maintenance (no spraying, no dead-heading, and no mounding with soil for winter protection) and repeat bloom continuously. As Double Knockout 'Pink Double Knockout' will even more floriferous than the original Knockout – with numbers of petals 18-25 (twice the number of Knockout) carried 3-6 with roses on a stem. The petals of a Flower added that this more complete is simply breathtaking. Three or four stems to fill a large vase. The flowers are about 2 1 / 2 inches wide and are borne of the incredible abundance. No dead heading, the blooms to maintain a continuous show of color from early June to jelly – accompanied by a clean beautiful foliage almost year round. The new growth is a dramatic burgundy red.
Both double Knockouts come in (denser, more compact 4 x 4 feet) and includes the mode that the original knock-out 5-6 feet tall and wide, spreading form. The end of season color of this rose is unique with its rich burgundy leaves in fall. Everything you loved in the original Knockout roses, you love about the new Pink 'Double Knockout' – with even more winter hardiness, shade tolerance improved, reduced height and width – and the brightest color of all knockouts.
The eye-catching, bright pink is a real stand in the garden and combines beautifully with the blue clematis violet. Because of 'Pink Double Knockout's' superior performance of low maintenance, it offers outstanding versatility of use – A rose planted by itself, more of your favorite perennials, or plant as an attractive cover.
Planting and maintenance
Hardy in zones 4-9.
Choose a place in 4-5 hours (or more) of sun and well drained soil.
Improve the soil with compost, as Chesapeake Blue Crab Compost.
Water regularly until the finish.
Once established fertilize monthly with Rose-Tone from March 15 August 15.
Mulch with 2-3 inches of mulch of shredded hardwood older.
If necessary, prune in mid-March before the onset leaves. Never prune less than 18 inches of soil.
