I can not understand the subject and its role in bringing the country togethers.?
The poem Aftermath by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow: When the summer fields are mown, When the birds are fully fledged and flown, and the dry leaves strew the path accessible, with the fall of snow, with the cawing of a crow, once again the fields we mow and gather in the aftermath. Not sweet new grass with flowers is the harvest of what is ours, not the flower of clover mountain But the mixture Rowen with weeds, Tangled tufts marshes and meadows, where the poppy drops its seeds into silence and obscurity. I know the mood of the poem is sad and similar and their aftermath that I think the day after the American Revolution.
I am not sure of the date of this poem, it refers to the aftermath of civil war: the theme is that as a young nation, America was full of hope and promise, like fresh hay the early summer, after the Civil War, the American people were divided in regard to "punish" the Confederates States or to work together to rebuild the nation … Would this poem has helped people in the nation to work together to look forward to a new beginning, Once again, it would be "sweet, new grass with flowers" for everyone?
