Alcea rosea (hollyhock) is a great biennial that is used as a Annual. It blooms from late spring to summer. You would use it in the back of the bed in full sun. It comes in many colors and is really pretty. It blooms in summer and gets more than 4 feet tall. Bellis perennis (English Daisy, Lawn Daisy) is a low growing perennial. As its name suggests, it grows well in lawns. Some consider it a weed, my mother all the grafts on his lawn. It is becoming lower and spread if left alone. You could use it to bed before the sun to partial shade. Antirrhinum majus (snapdragon) is a medium sized short-lived perennial. It blooms in spring and continues until frost. You can use it in the middle of the border, after those of low growth and high before and it becomes every 1-3 feet tall. It likes full sun and comes in a wide range of colors. It does best in cooler summer conditions so I guess he would do fine in part shade in these areas. Impatiens, there are many plants of this kind.
