The emergence of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) have more than doubled over the last 50 years due to accepting it as a medical condition that is caused by poor diet high in saturated foods. Premenstrual syndrome is defined as a function of the defective ovaries and associated with the menstrual cycle of women, it makes a physical and emotional status of women, and sometimes interferes with daily activities due to hormonal fluctuations. I. Definition
Ginger is a pungent plant belongs Family Zingeraceae from Asia. It has been used as a form of treatment in traditional Chinese diet in the treatment of stagnation of blood caused by Yang Qi.
II. How the effects of ginger root women with PMS
1. Stimulant
Ginger root is a stimulant, it helps improve the nervous system by increasing alertness, arousal and locomotion, which reduces the risk of loss of energy, dizziness and fatigue in some women with PMS.
2. Circulatory
Ginger root also contains compounds chemicals that help improve blood circulation in the body resulting from the reduced risk of premenstrual syndrome caused by a deficiency of oxygen and stagnation of blood in the organs of reproduction.
3. Antioxidant
It contains powerful antioxidants that help the immune system fights against foreign bacteria and viruses invading the diminishing risk of inflammation and infection in the reproductive system.
4. Digestive System
Ginger has been used in traditional medicine to treat digestive disorders such as diarrhea, nausea and gas in the gastrointestinal tract leading to increase the digestive system in absorbing vitamins and minerals that are necessary on overall health.
5. Analgesic and sedative
It has also been used in traditional medicine as a sedative agent to treat pain in the body by acting on the central nervous system and peripheral resulting in the reduction of abdominal pain and cramps for some women with PMS.
