Delphiniums Help Management – Please help me develop my flowers well.?
I planted a small package Seed Delphium a few years ago on the N side of our block of cement Dairy think some points of my favorite flower would look nice there. So they are very beautiful monsters the've become thick, abundant. How do I transplant and share with others? Do they repel each year from seeds which grow when the flowers die? I tried to find on the internet and I see many things as possible but what is best for me, I would move some of them to other places in the yard, can I dig and divide them, like other perennials? Can I collect their seeds and give to friends or their seeds sterile? What is the best time of year to do? I read on the Internet for live plants 2-3 years, so if this is the second year, do I expect they will die next year? I swear, I may be planted 15 seeds – a couple of springs ago – now it has got to be 100 plants – so it seems they are content to reproduce thousands to see
You're right on all fronts. Delphiniums do not re-seed each year from the flowers, you have them located on the north side of the house so I guess they receive morning sun, you can move them, dig all you want to move, ensuring not deep enough to cut roots. They will need help and a place that we will get some sunlight itself. You can dig a bit and move it-now would be a good time so he can settle before the changes of autumn. They may in shock for a few days, when you transplant, but watch them, they should be good. I doubt that your plants will disappear to be against a wall and protected but if you're worried about saving some seeds for next year. Yes, you can harvest the seeds for next year, keep in one place cool and dry during the winter.
